2026 Amendments to the Hong Kong Harmonized System
The current edition of the Hong Kong Imports and Exports Classification List (Harmonized System) (HKIECL) will be amended and the amendments will take effect from 1 January 2026. Import and export declarations for shipments on or after 1 January 2026 must be completed in accordance with the amended classification made to the HKIECL. [Details]
The enquiry service provided by our department through the Commodity Code Enquiry Hotline at 3178 8933 will be terminated starting from 2 January 2026 PM. The commodity code enquiry service provided by our department through the Import / Export Declaration and Cargo Manifest Enquiry Hotline at 2877 1818 will also be terminated simultaneously. For enquiries on commodity code, you may submit an enquiry through the online enquiry form; or e-mail a completed Commodity Code Enquiry Form to tc_1@censtatd.gov.hk.
For lodging import/export declarations in Hong Kong, the commodities have to be coded in 8-digit Hong Kong Harmonized System (HKHS) codes.
